I received the New 2005 NHRA rulebook on Fri. If anyone has a question in reguards to any new rules just ask. Just a couple are The 7.49 rule for roll bars and belts is now 7.35 to allow more street cars to run without changing factory interiors. All ET motorcycles 6.99 or quicker must have a kill lanyard, so if you know any bikes that test and tune at the Valley let them know.

On unibody cars, does there now have to be an outrigger from the subframe connector to the main hoop? This would be for a low 6 second/high 5 second car. Thanks.

On Unibody cars with a stock floor and firewall (wheel tubs permitted) the roll cage may be bolted or welded to the floor/rocker box via 6 inch x 6 inch x .125 inch steel plates simular to the roll bar requirements. Unless attaching to OEM floor or frame, the minimum requirement for a frame member to which the roll-cage member is attached are 1 5/8 inch x .118 MS or .083 inch CM round and 2 inch x 2 inch x .058 MS or CM rectangular.
Roll bar requirements Unibody cars with stock floor and firewall may attach roll bar on top and bottom of floor bolted together with at least 4, 3/8 inch bolts and nuts, or weld main hoop to rocker sill area with .125 reinforcing plates, with plates welded completely.

OK, so no real changes in this area from years past. Cool, I'm good to go. Thanks.

I have a few questions on roll-cages. At what E.T. will I be "required" to have one installed? Then, how many attachment "points" for the cage? And what other safety items in addition are required at the point where a cage is mandatory? I own a '74 Chevy pickup that runs a low 13 and is getting stronger as I change engines and parts, so I need to keep these things in mind when I go to the "trails".
Thank You

Brad.I don't think that you need a cage til you run 7.35 or faster then I think it's a 6 point...You need a drive shaft safety loop and a helmet and you are ready to go.
