I'd be very interested in the class. Bracket is a little too boring for me,Entry is a little too fast. This would bring a great mix of cars. Some bracket racers my even run this class once a month. You could definatly count me in.

I just have to respond to this, Along time ago they used to race heads up but due to the ever so many types of cars, engines, weights bracket racing was added back in the 60's. WOW!!! all the weight, motor problems (sizes) and such went away. Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro bikes, Prostock are the only first one there wins class with a slight few others, Then there were limits put on Et's and there you have Super comp, Super Gas, Hot Rod, Quick Rod etc, and they have an index, then there was this stock thing WOW Super Stock and Stock class If you get paired with your same class its a heads up no break out, If you don't so they make it fair and you dial it in, Do you all see where I am going with this, Lets take a new cobra mustang, put a smaller blower pully on it, I have seen it they run low 7's with no other modifications who would run this type of time right off the show room floor. Its just so difficult to match perfect classes of car with out it not being fair. thats why NHRA and IHRA developed all of classes.

I think this is a good Idea. There are plenty of mid seven second cars out there that would qualify for this class. As far as A new cobra goes, sure they run mid-sevens off the floor but you have to pay 30-35k to run that. We all know it doesn't take that kind of cash to run sevens which is why this would be a great class for real street driven cars.

I dont hardly see how a capped index would work that well for heads up. You know the majority of the cars would be on a throttle stop. So lets say it would be an imaginary dial in. It would be a "lets see who can run the closest to the cap without breaking out" Heads UP is HEADS UP no matter what outlaw class its in. Its all about the sanctioning bodies making the rules to equalize the field ,combo v/s combo. Not using a CAP. I see the other threads kicking that around on this forum and a CAP is not the anwser. Money and Ingenuity is the root of heads up. But hey, I could throttle stop my BRACKET car to run 6.50 or 7.50 and yes its completly street legal. Lets remember the brackets pay the bills at the track for the most part. Just my 2 cents so no need for any flaming. So if another class kills a day of brackets it would not be good for the track.

Brainerd runs a 7.00 flat and 6.00 flat index classes with great success. I think that they run these classes on dot tires. About the throttle stops simple don't allow them or any bracket racing aid.

Was at Huntsville this past weekend, don't remember any throttle stops but I did see a ton guys letting off and some brake stabbing on the top end trying to dump the other car in both the 6.0 and 7.0 classes.

thats because in those classes they are trying to get as close to 6.0 and 7.0. In my suggestion on a 6.0 cap for example, I said still run heads up to the finish line first, but if someone runs 5.999 or faster than that run is dq'd or eliminated them from the race. you can hit the brakes if you want, but you better hope you have enough lead so that the other guy dont pass you.

I'm building my car this winter with the intentions of running the Outlaw 8.5. When I was first told about the class it sounded great. Kind of a run what you brung on a 8.5 at 3200lbs and hope you brung enough. Not run what you brung and hope you dont run to fast. I really dont have any suggestions on how to fix what seems to be a problem but it just sounds like you should leave everything the way it is. Why do you need to slow the class down? As someone said in an erlier post if the drivers feel safe in their car running that fast then so be it. If the others cant keep up then maybe the 7.50 class would be a good idea. If its a saftey issue about going that fast on such a little tire wont it be just as unsafe hitting the brakes to keep from breaking out? Every body knows that people will be hitting there brakes if you put a cap on it. What do you expect the guys that already have been faster 6.0 to do? T

they are in this class because they probably cant run in True Street. So they have to slow their cars down? I dont know to many guy who do this to get that far and have to slow down. Not trying to make anybody mad but it just seems to be alot of trouble

The 6.0 breakout is just a suggestion. You ask what the people that have ran faster than 6.0 are supposed to do, its called taking some power out of it. I dont know, do whatever it takes to run the 6.0 time. I do know its alot easier and cheaper to slow a car down than it is to speed it up, and that is what the class was supposed to be, or so i thought. Basically for the true street guys who couldnt hang with the top guys in the class. But the way the class is going it is just going to be another true street. I want people to understand that I am just making suggestions about what to do, I could care less what they do to the rules, I will be there to race regardless (every now and then, LOL). Gotta take it easy this year

But mark my words, you WILL see a 5.7 pass in entry this year, and a car that has the power to run that fast on little tires can easily compete in true street on big tires. Look at James Sims for example. He ran a 5.89 on little tires, bolted on 28x10.5 MT ET Drags and ran a 5.55 this past weekend, which was also the first time out with that size tire. With a little chassis tuning he will be in the 40's.

I guess the difference there is that they can compete in true street or Win in entry street.

At what E.T do you have to have a cage in the car? Is there a certain E.T for just a roll bar? And what about no bars at all? Oh yeah, what about a fuel call? Thanks a bunch.
