What does everybody think about a 7.50 index class? This class would be easy to tech and create a racing environment for a lot of street cars. Rules: no min. weight maybe drag radials No electronics pro tree This index would eliminate the need for roll bars, etc. Class payout could come from the entry fee. Therefore, the more cars that show up, the better the payouts. I might even know of a couple businesses, that would sponser trophies for this class. Would like to hear everybodies opinions! Jason

If another class would be added, I think something in the bracket program would need to be eliminated for that one night each month. With a big turnout of bracket cars, it takes a while to get through eliminations. Maybe no trophy class or no jr's. on OVOS day if this 7.5 index class was added?
I'd leave it open to any tire so that people don't have to go buy something else if they didn't have the specified tire.
Sounds like a fun class.

We would NEVER do anything that would require any of the regular bracket classes to be dropped while we are there, dont forget that we are "invading" their space on that night and we need to show them some respect...
I like the idea of a 7.60 class as a way to get some of the street stuff to the track where it should be, but we have to look at the pros and cons of it to see if it is practical...A 7.60 cap would leave room before anyone had to have a rollbar and it seems that there are quite a few street cars that would fit this class...I would like some names and opinions from those who are interested in order to see where we stand...

Charlie, not interested in this class, but if this class was to start, will there still be a 8.5 tire class?
Oh yeah, any word on the banquet yet?

I wasn't meaning to show any disrespect to the bracket classes. I realize they are what keeps most dragstrips open and functioning. I was just pointing out that the amount of available time on race day is pretty full already and adding another class would require some consideration to that.
You used the word "invading." Care to expound on that? Are we not well received by some parties involved?

There was a time when the bracket guys were treated badly by someone from the street car scene, but we have tried to show that we respect them and that we are all racers and that we arent any better than they are...

I realize street car and bracket racers haven't always gotten along over the years, but I personally haven't seen any bad feelings between them at the Valley. I take it there have been some problems?
Again, I meant no disrespect. Just pointing out an issue that would need to be taking into account.

I could see a problem with the 7.60 cap. People could start to sandbag you to run the class. Especially if the payout comes from part of the entry fee. If there was 100 people show up for the class what would keep a guy or gal that runs the 8.5 outlaw from entering the class to win the bigger payout???

I'm all for adding a class "below" E/S. I feel you are missing out on quite a few cars and a number of spectators.
My personal opinion is that on the days that the heads-up race is running the track needs to adjust its opening and run times.
Essentially what is happening with the current "time format" is that on the heads-up days, you are adding 3 full classes, complete with qualifying and elims. Then you are trying to squeeze all of brackets and heads-up into the time normally allotted for the regular bracket program.
Things to consider for '05.

Charlie, I would be interested in this class, but then again I raced outlaw 8.5 with a snell when the junk was runnin. The pro tree thing is the hook for me. I just don't think there is a good answer to this problem, but I do agree the 8.5 deal could get out of hand. But there is no easy fix. Weight on the small blocks won't work becouse the big blocks are not that far behind . The cap would be dangerous becouse of hitting the brakes. You would have to DQ people for slamming on the brakes. ALL MOTOR SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. LOL Later Daryl Reynolds

A 7.50 index class sounds great as long as you keep it street appearing. No fiberglass bracket cars. If the class was added then we could bring a car to run in it. SOUNDS GREAT

I have talked about this class to some friends and they said it sounded great. I know of four cars that would race under this index. Craig, you are right there should be no spec tire for this class. Keep the rules simple and the cars will show up. Jason

would love to run a class like this. if you hada class like this i bet there would be more cars in this class than all the other classes. huntsville runs 6.0 and 7.0 class heads up and there is usely 30+ cars in it for big money too.
