New bracket points system for 2015:
5 points per round staged 5 points per round won
The following ONLY applies to the top 8 in points in each class following Doorslammers
After Doorslammers, the top 8 racers will be reset to 0 points, and seeding will be determined as follows: 10 points awarded for every Saturday entered through Doorslammers 10 points for every race win
This means it would be possible for the points leader after Doorslammers to not be the number one seed on the ladder.
In the event of a tie in the top 8 following Doorslammers, the racers tied for the spot will race and the winner will get the spot. In the event of tie after the points reset, the position will go to whoever had the spot in the point standings prior to the reset.
The top 8 will run on a ladder. The top 8 will only accumulate points during the ladder rounds, i.e. first, second, and third rounds. No buybacks into the ladder. First round losers may buy back into eliminations, but will not accumulate points. The winner from the top 8 ladder will move on into eliminations but will not accumulate any more points.
Points will be awarded as follows for the top 8: Winner - 30 points Runner up - 25 points Second round loser - 15 points First round loser - 5 points

Sound like I need to get a PhD to understand that.

What's it cost to buy in the final 8?

tmathis, no extra cost. If you're in points, you're eligible.
In it's simplest form, the top 8 deal works like the quick 16 does with bracket 1, only this is for points. The 8 cars will run separate from the rest of the class, first round losers can buy back into second round with everyone else, winner moves on to eliminations with the rest of the field.

Looks like 3-4 race shootout between top 8 cars after Doorslammers.

I agree with that! Top 8 should be seeded based on their performance up to the time of the shootout. Not based on a bonus system that may make the shootout irrelevant anyways. If you are going to have a shootout, then each person in the shootout should have a somewhat equal shot. Otherwise, it's just an extension of the regular points that keeps anyone out of the top 8 from being able to crack the top 5 altogether. It will be neat to see it all play out though. Hopefully I can crack that Top 8 again!!!

I applaud them for trying to change it up. I agree with Scotty tho the spread in points could be very large after they reset do to say a guy being there every weekend and has one win. While 6th place guy may have only been there 7 times but won 4 of the 7. Not even sure if he could mathmatecially when points at that point?
Why not take 8 top drivers and seed them based on only their position in points at that time, not races attended and races won. Give each postion a round advantage over the next postion.

Keep in mind that this is the first time for this system. We'll see how it does this year and make changes for next season if needed.

Scotty, did you win any races that year? I can't remember and don't have that info. If so, how many?
Looking over last year's Super Pro results (at least what I have on-hand), it looks like the top 5 finishers only combined to win something like five races total. One racer won twice, one didn't win at all. That may not be 100% accurate, it's just what I have access to at the moment. Based on that, if a guy wins three or four times and misses a week or two, it shouldn't hurt him if he's in the top 8. There are so many variables, though, and we won't know for sure how it will go until we get down to the end of the season.
This is a double-edged sword, but what do you think of giving a bonus (5 or 10 points) if one of the top 8 wins the race? That was discussed but not implemented at this time.
I don't agree with taking the top 8 with perfect attendance...if a racer has an emergency and can't be there one week but is there every other week, that would take away the chance to race for a championship. It could take a racer from 10th or 12th and put him in the top 8 because they won two or three races whereas the 7th, 8th, 9th place racers may have won one or none.

If you can't make the Few last races after Doorslammers, to run for the Championship then why even bother worrying about points. Give no points for the remainder of the races for the top 8 for gate entry. Problem solved {your Welcome}.

Who all come up with this new points system ? Just curious . Talked to Scotty on the phone I think he's right about the bonus points not being right. I know why the Valley does that just so people will come there..

The input is appreciated. Thank you all. I've gotta call Terry tomorrow, I know he wants to know what kind of response we're getting on this. Scotty - Just an idea...instead of 10 points per weekend raced and 10 points per race won, what do you think about 5 points per weekend raced, 10 points per race won, and maybe a 5 or 10 point perfect attendance bonus? Jeff - I really don't know who all was involved. I'm just a keyboard jockey You're right about wanting people to come race the Valley, same as any other race track.

I say reset the points to 0 no bonus points, pair them up after the doorslammers let the best man or women win.
